Preface: This review is not just about the book, but it's also about the author, his work, BearBullTraders, and your journey to becoming a daytrader. If you don't want to read all that, you can skip to the TLDR.I've also read Aziz's prior book, so I picked this one up on release as I found that book to be an easy read. It covers a lot of what the prior book did, but adds on to the knowledge base with more strategies (low-float based, etc). If you're familiar with the prior book or have some experience in markets, you may be able to just jump straight to this one. If you are not confident in your foundation, reading both would be good as this one can serve as reinforcement + expansion. Yes, there's a lot of overlap, but I believe it's by design since some may choose to skip just to this book.In daytrading and in most things, this is not easy work. The first thing I remember standing out about Andrew's first book was his brutal honesty in telling you that the vast majority of retail traders will fail. That stuck with me as it's a very negative note to start a book off with (marketing101 says you stay away from the negative), like a "hey, congrats on thinking you can do this, but you can't". That may turn off a lot of readers, but it's that brutal honesty that made me stick to his book more than others. He wasn't trying to sell me something right off the start, he didn't try and say "hey, you can make $2000 a day just by sitting at home!" like many con-artists try to push.When trying to learn about anything that can be a self-run business or job, you have to be very careful about the charlatan. I grew up with a parent that seemingly always got sucked into the "free seminar." After seeing a few, I understood what they were selling - not knowledge or education, but hope. Their free marketing seminar was really just a loss-leader to get people into the door so they could sell them on hopes and dreams, then push them to hand over a couple thousand dollars. It's like a time-share for information. They're experts in social psychology and know how to sell you on your desire to have financial freedom, when in actuality they're just freeing your wallet of extra cash. This is especially true in the DayTrading education market as there seems to be a lot of con-men in it. I've watched "seminars" of people who spend 20minutes trying to convince you it's a live seminar and not recorded (it was totally pre-recorded), pitching "new ideas" that are just recycled common strategies with a new name.. I've read about others who seemingly never lose a trade (it's not possible), and I've witnessed what seems like organized pump and dump schemes, where the guy sharing the screen uses his slight video delay and large following to seemingly "pump" a stock. -- Side note, if you want a great read on the social psychology of sales tactics, I highly recommend Influence by Robert B. Cialdini, you'll start to see sales interactions in a different light.So when I started to actually look into Andrew's other work, like his courses, and his chatroom, I was intrigued. I did a trial version of the chat and observed him. One thing that stuck out more than other "gurus" in this area is that he seemingly wants to educate people. It's not so much a business where profit is the number one driving factor as much as it's a passion to share. That struck home with me as I'm of the same mindset, I get more pleasure from helping others than I do making money. I like to help people be their best for the sake of helping someone. It was a refreshing change from what I've seen in the day trading space. The chatroom is fun because it's more of a community where you can have discussion, ask questions, and joke a little - this is in contrast to some other chatrooms which are strictly "stock callouts" only. If you have a bad trade or a bad day, others jump in to talk you through it. You learn together.I've seen a few reviews that don't like the fact his other services (chatroom, courses) are mentioned in the book. By all means, you should shop around! If someone is selling you a product within a product, be skeptical. I did my research and was satisfied with what I found, I felt my lifetime membership provided enough value to justify the cost. If you stay with this profession and want to actually learn, you have to put in the hard work. Most won't be able to read just a book and be proficient in it, you do have to practice, and you do have to ask questions and get answers. Wherever you end up in your journey, if you stick with it, you can find success.TLDR Review:- The book is an easy read and provides good value (tremendous value if you bought the Kindle version for under $10). It hits all the common points that you'll find in day trading education books, so if his writing style suites you, this will work.- If you're curious about day trading, this will be a good book for you as it doesn't sell you on "make thousands a day, it's easy!", it's honest in what you can expect.- If you've read the prior book, expect a lot of overlap, but there's enough new stuff to justify it being a new title and not just a new edition to the old.- There's no master strategy or knowledge that can be obtained from books. You're not going to become a master day trader overnight through information osmosis, you have to be willing to put in the hard work as well.Good luck.

Pros:1- Probably the most practical day trading book that is out there. Goes right to the practical techniques and generously share all the details from trading strategies step-by-step with handful examples for each case to scanner settings (some day trading services ask for hundreds to thousands of dollars just to give the scanner settings).2- Very useful glossary of terms at the end of the book.3- It also contains information about brokers and comparison of their services plus scanner and platform services.Cons:1- Some pictures are low quality (probably 25% of them).2- Although there is “probability” term in the book title, there is nothing in that nature really discussed in the book from technical point of view, which is understandable as day trading is not using sophisticated mathematical algorithm to pin point stocks and trading them. The whole section on risk and trade management is honoring the principle of 1:2 or 1:3 risk/reward ratio.Overall, successful day trading comes with practice and proper risk management (including having your psyche in check). I think the materials in this book will be enough for many years of practice, execution, mastering and modifications for your needs and goals.

Another great book by Andrew. This book focuses A LOT more on the in depth strategies of trading that Andrew trades in regularly. Andrew reiterates how important risk/reward management is in this book and it is appreciated as new traders often see dollar signs in their eyes at every trade instead of focusing on a plan and sticking to it.I highly recommend watching Andrew's YouTube channel everyday that you read this book as every strategy talked about is traded by one or more of the traders in the chatroom. This helped me WAY more than all the charts in the book as I could see up to date information from multiple sources confirming what I had just read in the book.I highly recommend the book as it is great for both novice traders as well as experienced traders looking for new strategies. The only major negative of this book is that the print on a 2 or 3 pages was so far off that pages were unreadable. Not a huge deal, but for the next print run, I highly recommend tighter quality control on the end of the publisher. I think a more expensive version with color graphs would make a significant contribution to the learning advantage or have color pages in the back of the book that the reader could reference as they read along.Great content from a great author. Keep it up Andrew.

I recently read his first book and am now almost done reading this one. Trading is hard and not for everyone, but, if you are one of the ones who can pull it off (meaning you have the drive, discipline and determination) this book (and his other) will get you most of the way there.

I thought this book was excellent I read it through the Kindle app on an Ipad, and I thought the graphics were excellent - easy to doubleclick the graphics and expand.The book was very easy to understand, and I have already used the methods with success in a simulator. As suggested, I will do at least 3 months of simulator time before using real money.I knew this book was better than the rest when the author even pointed out how it was important to exercise and eat good food prior to market opening in order to have a sharp mind. I used to work in the medical profession and agree 100%.Keep up the good work.

Mary Lefkowitz is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities emerita at Wellesley College. A recipient of the National Humanities Award, Lefkowitz is the author and editor of numerous articles and books, including Not Out of Africa: How Afrocentrism Became an Excuse to Teach Myth as History; Greek Gods, Human Lives: What We Can Learn from Myths; and Euripides & the Gods.   James Romm is the James H. Ottaway Jr. Professor of Classics at Bard College and the author of several books, including Dying Every Day: Seneca at the Court of Nero and Ghost on the Throne: The Death of Alexander the Great and the War for Crown and Empire. Outstanding! Beautiful, heavy, nicely designed book. The introduction is excellent, and the brief intros to each play are concise and clear. All the plays are translated with the greatest level of scholarship. This is a book both for the lay reader and the thoughtful scholar -- challenging but accessible, and an overall intelligence that is lacking in so many books that have 'ancient history' focus.I consider this one of the best books I've gotten in a while, no matter what the category.

I'd say it's the best translation of the plays I've read so far -- with some clumsy bits to provide the exceptions.

Everything about the choices of translation is thoroughly explained. The poetry was a bit lost in some of the plays, if one was to compare it with older translations. So for if one is looking to create ancient theatre scenes, some other translations could work better.

This book is an excellent selection of most of the major Greek tragedies. The translations and notes are truly outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the plays.

Very detailed in writing in the introductions of this well-written book. Very well translated and clear with the writing of the stories aswell.

Astounding to reread these plays after 60 years and find the new translation to refreshingly new that it would seem they were written just yesterday!

Excellent edition of the classic Greek plays.

As the subtitle states this IS the essential case for capitalism and freedom, and Professor Dahlen is eminently capable of presenting it, both succinctly and eloquently, and provides a great primer for those as yet unconvinced of the virtues of free market, laissez-faire capitalism, or those who already support it and want more information to be able to defend it more effectively.Sadly the vast majority of Americans appear to fall into the first group and have no idea that this form of capitalism was fundamental to the founding and building of our nation before the 20th century. Perhaps it would be more appealing today if it was called "free-range capitalism."This may seem like yet another impractical libertarian (and heaven forbid even Randian influenced!) polemic to those who favor an idealistic centrally planned or a more cautious and compromising "mixed" economic/political philosophy, but it is clear after reading Dahlen that all non free market approaches (including the mixed version) fall into the camp of statism, and that, "Statism is the principle of government force and tyranny." (p.5.). And that it is precisely capitalism's moral foundation (respect for the principle of private property and individual sovereignty) which has been so misunderstood or taken for granted. In the same way that this was a major concern for the majority of Americans in the late 18th century, but it took the actions of a small minority to bring into reality (via the Revolution of 1776) it is once again a major issue in regard to survival of the American experiment, and now up to an educated minority to fight for these freedoms (fight as in diligently guarding our rights to peaceful freedom loving - "free-ranging" - lifestyles and not by armed insurrection).This message is perhaps more timely than ever and Dahlen's presentation is highly recommended. A real tour de force on the history, philosophy and economics of capitalism in clear and simple language, this would be the perfect textbook for modern high schools, but unfortunately it would also undermine so much of the rest of the social studies curriculum…

An industrious and detailed study of just what the title says. Dahlen meticulously references his case, starting from pretty much the earliest societies. The first chapter is a lengthy history and explanatory essay setting up Dahlen's theories and creating a commonality for the terms used. The second chapter is a discourse on Dahlen's personal explorations of why he thinks government should function a particular way. The rest of the book is an excellent conversation starter on how free markets should work and enterprise should and should not be regulated. With sections on the history of capitalism and statism, with statism being put into the same group with fascism and nazism, and other isms, to why the truth of "wealth"; not money, but what people can buy. Wealth, then, is the way toward an "ideal use" of money: the creation of goods that are "marketable, divisible, portable and homogeneous, durable, and hard to produce, or long term" which leads to savings.What I like about the book is that the author went the extra hundred miles to reference his theories, from Aristotle to Hamilton to contemporary financial, political, and economic thinkers. You don't have to agree to think about the topics, and engage in deliberate conversation.Readers who like politics, the economy, and hot topics that never go out of style, will be appreciate the effort Dahlen took to create this book that transcends the modern age.

I give a big thumbs up to Ending Big Government, a book that fully deserves a five star rating. Michael Dahlen has written a valuable addition to the literature of free market capitalism, a book that I will keep as a ready reference. Ending Big Government should get a prominent place in the “intellectual ammunition department” of anyone who wants to defend free markets.Dahlen’s book is addressed to those who are already sympathetic to capitalism and concerned about the growing intrusion of government in our lives. The author demonstrates that American capitalism has been undermined and distorted by increasing government controls, resulting in the foundering “mixed economy” of the present day. The only rational alternative to this hybrid monstrosity, he argues, is laissez faire capitalism, implemented at every level of the government and the economy. Dahlen makes his case by expanding on Ayn Rand’s claim that pure capitalism is not only the most productive social system, but also the only moral system. As the author himself states: “This book will show that capitalism is moral and practical while also showing that statism is immoral and impractical. Toward that end, this book systematically contrasts the history, economics, and the underlying philosophy of each system.“ Dahlen makes good on this promise, and the result is a book that is not only interesting and enjoyable, but also of lasting value, as I will describe below.Before I get into the highlights of the book, I have a minor quibble about the author's choice of a title. As Dahlen notes in Acknowledgements, the original working title was “Capitalism vs. Big Government,” which he rejected in favor of a “ better” (presumably more marketable) title. I agree that "Ending Big Government” has a nice ring to it, but it implies that the author is actually going to tell us how to get the government off our backs. However, despite the beguiling title, telling us “how” was never his purpose. So, for me at least, it was a minor letdown when I realized (about half way through the book) that the author was not going to provide a roadmap for ending excessive government intrusion. Dahlen fully understands that the culture has to be changed before pure capitalism can be more widely accepted, but we are left on our own to imagine exactly how this can happen in our lifetimes. (Is it just me, or does it feel as if time is running out, and it is becoming ever more urgent to reform our economy and our culture? Perhaps Dahlen will tackle this critical question in a future book.)Despite this minor distraction, you should definitely buy and read a Dahlen’s book. “Ending Big Government” has two outstanding virtues that make it well worth reading and keeping.First, “Ending Big Government” is well organized and clearly written. It requires no specialized or technical expertise, so its thesis and reasoning are fully accessible to any interested reader. The structure is logical and easy to understand, so you always know your place within the author’s framework. Dahlen systematically contrasts the virtues of capitalism with the evils of its antipode - statism - along three key dimensions: the history of capitalism versus statism in America; the philosophic underpinnings of both systems; and the economic theories and consequences of each. This is a lot of ground to cover in less than 300 pages, yet Dahlen gets it done it without neglecting any important ideas or events. His combination of clarity and conciseness is refreshing and unusual in a book of such broad scope. (My own proficiency is in economics, and in this area I I found Dahlen’s excellent analysis both terse and accurate.)Second, Dahlen has written a valuable reference work for anyone interested in the study of any special fact or feature of free market capitalism. The book is extensively and accurately footnoted, allowing the reader to launch a detailed inquiry into any related topic. For example, suppose you want to understand the significance of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Just look up “Sherman Antitrust Act” in the book’s online search engine, and you immediately get five useful references, including a full transcript of the Act itself, as well as sections in the text that concisely explain the context and importance of this famous legislation. Or, suppose you want to know the influence, if any, of the Scottish philosopher David Hume on the ideas underlying the founding of our Republic. Good enough. It is as advertised, I have no problems with it.

This is a great paperback version of the dictionary. It's a bit thick, but the weight is fine and easy to keep with you. It's also updated, has great explanatory notes, pronunciation page, the periodic table and metric/measurement system. In addition it has a section of foreign words, biography and geography - common names of people and places. It is a great source and I highly recommend this product! You will not be disappointed!

In the age of the Internet, one may question - "why is a dictionary even necessary when you have Google or Dictionary.com"? The answer - it's because homework and Scrabble still exist. I purchased the Merriam-Webster Dictionary primarily for the kids to use in our house, but I find myself flipping through it from time to time to help define some obscure words I find in a random novel or two. The dictionary is as straight forward as it gets - definitions are simple and to the point, and there are no example sentences that the word is used in.The paper of the dictionary is the same thickness of most paperback books - it's not Bible thin, but it's not heavy duty paper either. The font is teeny tiny - I'm guessing 10 pt - but if you can read most magazine fonts, you're should be okay. I didn't find the font to be any smaller than the font in my issues of Family Circle or Better Homes and Gardens, but it definitely seemed more compressed since this is a dictionary with little white space and no pictures. Overall, great resource if you're looking for a good updated dictionary.

This is a great compact dictionary. I had a 25-year old American Heritage dictionary that finally fell apart into three pieces. This new dictionary is just perfect. I love to work crossword puzzles and looked up three obscure words to test it out. All three where in this dictionary, they were not in the old dictionary that I put in the recycle bin. I also like it because a larger, darker font is used for the word that is listed.The few complaints regarding the small print seem rather trivial to me. I use reading glasses and am able to read it just fine. I have also purchased reading glasses with a little higher power than I normally use for just those needs. It was long past time that I updated my dictionary and I'm glad I got this one. Now I have one for another 25 years.

Disappointed that this dictionary does not have etymological roots, which is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a big variety of paper-format dictionaries available, so I bought this popular one thinking it would include roots. It's a fine dictionary for common word usage, and definitions are very brief.

PERFECT for our needs, haha, which beyond the usual we have a dry erase board in the bathroom and have a constant game of zombie hangman going between my husband and myself. At times we need to look up the word we place for the other to make sure are spelling it right and its usage. Haha, yeah so not the normal use for a dictionary. We had an old one that was too big to store on the little shelf and not as extensive so there were a lot of words we had to look up online. Then we had a little pocket like version that was old and too musty and falling apart. So in steps this one and the price was great and it's a nice thick but compact extensive dictionary, love it!

Great dictionary. Perfect size to take in your backpack. Letters are legible.

This is a tiny dictionary, about 4.5 inches by 7 inches. My Dad could not read the print. I did not see anything in the description noting this and wish I had read the reviews first. I am returning this book as it is pretty much useless in this format. Quite honestly, I would not want to look things up in this. I even bought the library bound, thinking of the dictionaries found in libraries.

Great paperback dictionary, wish it was a little bigger (7x4) but acceptable.
