I had to write a paper for seminary school on the book of Ecclesiastes. I purchased this book to assist in the research of the paper. This is just a fabulous book. Dr. Jeremiah writes about technical matters of Scripture but his writing is just alive. This book touched my heart and reminded me of why I became a Christian and recharged me for service to the Lord. There are so many pearls in this writing about the Christian life that I would make this book mandatory reading for all Christians if I could. Dr. Jeremiah does a marvelous job of tying the book of Ecclesiastes into the New Testament with this book as well. If I could, I would give this book ten stars. He also ties so many Scriptures into this analysis of Ecclesiastes that you get a wonderful full picture of how the Bible is really just one book woven together by 47 authors. This is a great book for both lay Christians and/or serious Christian teachers or students. I could not put the book down once I got started reading it; that says a lot when you are seminary school and there are papers due and deadlines knocking on your door.
Ecclesiastes is probably one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible. So many look at it as a negative ramble with little personal application. If you look at it that way, I encourage you to read this account by David Jeremiah. He takes it verse by verse and explains it in today's language with great personal insight. Solomon, in writing Ecclesiastes was not being negative but pointing out in a very vivid way that life is more than pleasure, personal gain, money, fortune and fame. Without God and a spiritual base in your life it is all "vanity, vanity" as he stresses throughout the book. Jeremiah, in his writing, draws from a number of resources to explain just what Solomon was trying to bring forth. If you have not read Ecclesiastes it might be helpful to do that first and then read Jeremiah's account. Regardless of your spiritual belief, I think you will find this book to be an incredible look at where much of our world is today and how we should respond to it.
I’m not finished reading Dr. Jeremiah’s book yet. I love the thorough, methodical, scripturally based handling by Dr. Jeremiah. Having just lost my wife of 60 years, I have heightened interest in where she is and what she is experiencing in the presence of our Lord. I look forward to joining her!
Excellent book. Much deeper than I thought. Author was interesting and challenging, and I, quite frankly, was blown away about the depth of wisdom of Solomon. Highly recommend if you want to get your life on track and use sound wisdom. I will give this book to friends as a gift, often.
This is a wonderful study of Ecclesiastes by David Jeremiah. It is the best study I've had on the book.
This book has good information in it but the style of writing is a little drab for my likes. Informative but doesn't grab you.
Dr. Jeremiah places into real life context Solomon's third Biblical Book. Prepare your self for a journey of learning, wisdom and understanding. This is an excellent for believers, non believers and born again evangelicals where ever they are in their walk of sanctification.
This account of Ecclesiastes, and the authors interpretation is well worth the read. Things are just not as we believe or are led to believe, and our life experience can lead us to great success or failure but not always as initially thought. Much of the smoke and mirrors are seen and our foolishness and obstacles are seen though the wisdom of Solomon. Good book for a change of perspective.
