I'll Follow the Moon by Stephanie LisIllustrated very colorful book, not only for children. It shows the life of a sea turtle when it's just an eggsitting in a nest on the beach, cracking open and crawling down to the water to find it's mother. The moon leads theway via a path of light. Love this story about turtles when I first leaned of them in a Nicholas Sparks book where others were protecting them upon birth.Fact that the money will be donated makes me more so want to share my review. Thanks for writing this for us to educate others and ot learn from.

I love this book.My reasons are almost caveats but they are what they are.First of all, I have a daughter who passed away when she was 2 1/2 and she absolutely loved sea turtles. "I'll follow the Moon" reminded me of her. It really made my heart smile. So I read it to her in the only way I can.Second is ive gotten to know the author only a little bit. It's how I found out about her book. I can only say she has been every bit the kind, compassionate, and thoughtful soul that comes out in her words. The book itself is beautiful. The writing and artwork are gorgeous. My sons are almost grown up, so I have no one else to read it to. But I have a friend who I can't wait to give this book to so he can read it to his children. I have a feeling theyll enjoy it as much as my daughter and I did.

Where is all the great reviews coming from?First off, Amazon does not provide a look inside the book. Only the very touching story of the author, the front and the back of the book. I based my purchase on her story and the awesome reviews this book received. Then I decided to pay extra for the hard cover version, as our daughter did a school project about sea turtles for school, and I thought it would be a nice touch having her bring in a heartwarming story, about a little hatchling for other students to read as well. When it arrived I flipped through the pages and was immediately drawn to the beautiful pictures. The words and sentences though make absolutely NO sense to a child. If the author would have had kids before being inspired by her first baby, she would have taken that in consideration. Toddlers and elementary students have no understanding for poetry and deep meanings. I was in a hurry to give it away to a school, that actually teaches poetry early on. Hopefully they will be able to make sense of it. That way my $23 don't go to waste. Another pretty disappointing fact, and apologies for giving it away so quickly, I didn't get a chance to count the pages. The first few pages are dedication, the authors inspiration and table of contents and on and on. The story itself was about 15 pages with on one new sentence on each page, and another sentence that repeats itself on all 15 or so pages. The next 10 pages are highly rated reviews written for this book, which seemed a little odd to me. The first book ever I have bought that has pages and pages and pages of bragging reviews. Not only a waste of paper, but also of no interest to look at by kids! Very, very disappointed. Only a great book to people who like to dissect and find deep meanings in a whole bunch of nonsense sentences.

I have been a sea turtle lover for as long as I can remember. They fascinate me to no end. I have looking for ways to get my sons to at least like and respect them. I came across this little gem on a day that I needed some uplifting. I ordered it immediately for my Kindle.I read it to my youngest son, 14 months old, just after it loaded. He loved every word. He smiled and clapped and squealed when baby turtle found Mama. My oldest son, 5 years old, heard all the fun and came to see what was going on. He asked me to read it to him. All three of us read this story together. And as soon as it was over, we read it again and again and again and again. That first night, we read it 8 times. It is now the bedtime story request.I received a hard copy of the book a few days ago. I immediately sat down with my little guy and read it to him again. I think that he loved it even more because he was able to turn the pages himself.I love this book. I love the way that my boys love this book. I will absolutely start including a copy of this book with baby shower and birthday gifts. Every child needs to have one.

Wow. It’s poetry.. just 3 word poetry that doesn’t rhyme. The pictures are very much the same every page. My kids are total bookworms and they didn’t like it at all. Maybe adults and ocean lovers and people who want to save the sea turtles will like this but no way is it going to hold the attention of a kid. Are all these reviews bogus? I feel so ripped off.

I ordered this to take on vacation to the beach and am so glad that I did. On our second night at Edisto Beach in South Carolina, my children, grandchildren, and I were blessed to witness the hatching of a sea turtle nest! Even my three year old granddaughter who usually is talking constantly unless she is asleep was speechless in awe at seeing the tiny turtles crawling towards the water. Having the wonderful new book to read to her just added to my enjoyment. As the book explained that the baby knew just what to do, to follow the moon, Willow always shouted out "moon" in the right place. It is a beautifully written and beautifully illustrated book that will be a favorite for a long time.

This book caught my eye on posts on facebook for Save Green Sea Turtles. I bought the book as a gift for my granddaughter, and also downloaded the Kindle edition to check out for myself. The illustrations are beautiful. The story and the repeated phrasing are classic children's story-telling. It did seem a little long for small children, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on any of the beautiful illustrations. That said, I am concerned because, in fact, sea turtle babies do NOT ever interact with their parents once hatched. They are not following the moon in order to find their mother, and will only ever find her by accident (the females do at least return to the beach where they were hatched), if ever. I would hate to be the parent whose child loves this story, who then finds out at the local aquarium that the turtle really does hatch out an is on its own to survive or not. So, therefore, only 4 stars.

#22,626 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

If you like the works of Joseph Campbell you will love this book by Frank Albo. When I first picked up the book I was a little daunted by the subject matter but as soon as I opened its pages I was immediately entranced. The colour images are enough to keep one turning the pages but it is also a beautiful story about an amazing nation that emerged from the ashes of Soviet despotism in 20th century to become global leader in nuclear disarmament, the sustainability of the planet, and religious extremism. This book offers a unique solution as seen through the lens of Astana’s breathtaking architecture. Kazakh people almost perished in one of the worst environmental disasters - the drying up of the Aral Sea, they were also a testing ground for Russian missiles and nuclear bombs, and according to Dr. Albo, they represent one of the most religiously and ethnically diverse nations on the Earth - so who better to guide us through these times of uncertainty than past survivors of the very things that threaten us as a human race? Professor Albo unpacks his thesis in the form of a “foundation myth” and he shows how Astana’s buildings are suffused with cultural symbolism and meaning (if you know how to read them). I will be buying this book for everyone in my family this Christmas and hopefully one of my relatives will solve the secret message in the book and get to take me on a first class trip to Astana! Huge props Dr. Albo. Great book!

This book really makes you think and you have to take it in chunks because it will get your wheels turning. I bought it because of the $30,000 prize concealed in the book and who doesn’t like a challenge? My wife and I were fans of The Hermetic Code, Frank Albo’s previous book, but this is totally different. When I first opened the book I was marvelling at the images then I started to read a small paragraph from a page in around the middle of the book that I had randomly opened to, before I knew it I was hooked and reading it from the beginning. It’s like a history lesson if history lessons were totally interesting and engaging. It’s all about symbols and how they can be used in architecture to tell the story of a people and country. The Kazakh people have a rich culture and history, it’s not at all what I expected especially after watching Borat. Kazakhstan is nothing like the place represented by Borat — it’s the repository of the traditions, languages, and religions of the world!

I would only be half joking if I said that this book kind of makes me jealous that I am not a Kazakh. The intelligence and sophistication with which this city was laid out is incredible—almost otherworldly—so it’s no surprise to find that one of the most remarkable buildings in this extraordinary Kazakh capital is in the shape of an enormous UFO! I was also stunned to discover that the world’s leading architects, such as Norman Foster, Manfredi Nicoletti, Kisho Kurokawa, and Adrian Smith designed many of the buildings in the capital conforming to an ancient Central Asian belief system called Tengrianism, represented by the color of the sky (blue) and the sun (gold). It gives the city an aesthetic continuity that is quite moving when you discover that is was entirely deliberate, purposeful, and inspiring. But this is just one small element of the book. Every page is full of scholarship and surprises about the meaning of symbolism, architecture, and little-known Central Asian history. King Arthur and the Amazons are from Kazakhstan!! Who would have thought? Apparently, Professor Albo. A must-read book! Destination Astana is certainly on my bucket list!

GREAT BOOK. Beautifully illustrated and written with panache and style. I just love the concept of origin myth or foundation myth and the story of how the greatest authors of modernity calling themselves The Inklings came together in a pub in Oxford, England called the Eagle & Child to discuss the problems of the 20th century and determined that disenchantment, materialism and alienation were the greatest threats of the day. They set a course to create a panacea for these ills in the greatest works of literature such as Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Professor Albo takes on a similar mission as he decodes the architecture of Astana to show how it reflects the city’s aspirations as it takes its place on the world stage as a living example of peace, prosperity, sustainability and religious tolerance.

Astana is the perfect non-fiction architectural follow-up to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia. But instead of Frodo or Prince Caspian, its buildings and architecture take us on an epic journey through the history and mythology of Central Asia. A beautifully illustrated must-read book!

I bought the book because I heard on the radio that every person who gets the book can enter the challenge for a chance to win tickets to Kazakhstan. Apparently the author worked with a puzzler master to come up with a code in the book that reveals a hidden message. The only problem is that the book is so engaging that I forget to keep my eyes open for clues!

I have not even started the book yet and I love it already! It has all these wonderful pictures and the text is interwoven with the photography. The book is nice sized and work for a nice coffee table book. I will update this review once I have read it

I cannot wait to sink my teeth into this book. I have always loved architecture.
