My son is in 2nd grade and came home with an older version of this book. He seemed interested so his aunt purchased this for him for Christmas. This is an awesome coffee table book to peruse and I love that my son picks it up periodically and just reads it because it is interesting.This book tells you facts such as what is the most traveled to tourist destination in the US. Or what the driest (wettest, coldest, warmest) inhabited place in the world. This isn't so much a Guinness Book of World Records telling you all of the crazy and awesome things people have done, although there are things like musician who sold the most records, actor who made the most money, etc.I highly recommend this book.
This World Record book is really fun to look at, at bedtime. It has epic fails and epic wins in it. I think the Scholastic World Record Book is better than the Guinness World Record Books because it's easier for kids to read. I'm in 3rd grade and can read it just fine.
These were gifts for 8 & 9 year old boys and a big hit. The different color, subject related tabs made finding information easier for them. The rest of the family spent Thanksgiving afternoon responding to 'hey, look at this photo and granddad, did you know....., etc.' I bought more for some of the children on the Giving-tree at church. Think, this time, I hit a home run.
Better title would be: 2014 BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS. Granted, it's still 2016 and records have yet to be set; however, a book of 2014 records and published in 2015 is a year behind.Fortunately, this is my 8-year old' s introduction to published records; and the publication is filled with a broad range of fields depicted brief statements, color photos and graphs.
I bought this for my 7-year-olds. They're near the end of 1st grade. I realized when I checked the DRA level that this is theoretically way over their reading level (6th grade) but they've still enjoyed reading it. They occasionally ask what a word means but overall it's been a great hit.
My son wanted this book from his school's scholastic. But since money is tight, I decided to check out Amazon's price. It turns out it's cheaper with Amazon. One of the pages did fall out though. Other than that my son loves the book.
This item is exactly what it claims to be. My son loves it and they love going back to refer to some of the silly records. Provided the family with plenty of laughs!
Great book for my 7 year old son! He loves reading the world records!
